Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center recently hosted a hands-on, experiential learning event focused on education, engagement, and therapeutic connection.
We are grateful to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Mini Angel Eyes for partnering with us to provide an enriching experience for our students. Through interactive sessions, youth explored zoo-based career pathways, learned how animal X-rays are used in veterinary care, and gained a deeper understanding of animal health and wellness.
Students also had the opportunity to meet “Russell” the bull snake and “Padfoot” the skunk, as well as engage with miniature horses through hands-on interaction. These moments offered not only educational value but also meaningful therapeutic benefits, with a noticeable calming effect across participants.
Experiences like these reflect the impact of strong community partnerships and innovative programming in supporting youth development.
